Studied a bachelor in fashion & textile technologies at amsterdam fashion institute and a master in information design at design academy eindhoven.
Works in digital & computational design, cultural production and research in material infrastructures.
this site revolves around as both a methodology and subject of research.
a protocol is usually thought of as an abstract set of rules for how things connect, communicate, or flow
(e.g. TCP/IP, exhibition standards).
material protocols = the rules and conventions of information/interaction as they are
made visible and tangible in material form.
why it matters?
– it highlights the politics of material choices.
– it reminds us that information infrastructures aren’t invisible.
– it allows experimentation: by bending, queering, or re-weaving protocols materially,
new forms of communication and presence can be explored.
As a methodology, this means experimenting with weaving, spatial design, and computational systems to surface, test, and rewrite the protocols that shape interaction.
its structure follows the same ethos of simplicity it studies. It is self-hosted and part of a larger network of published sites, directly or indirectly connected through shared practices and protocols. It is a low-tech construction which uses light-weight text-based formats.
